Sound
System Operators Here’s what we do: - Set up microphones for the service - Run the sound levels during the service - Tape record the service - Take down the microphones
How often? - Once every 2 - 3 months
Does it require special skills? - Nope, but it is a particularly good job for those folks who are into this sort of thing.
Advantages of this volunteer job: - Not a huge time commitment - You don’t miss the service - You can swap dates with other operators
Disadvantages of this volunteer job: - You need to show up when scheduled
Do we need more sound operators? - It’s always nice to have a large crew. - The more the merrier.
How do I sign up? What if I just want to think about it? - Okay, - Call, see or email Sharon McKnight
Anything else I could do? Sure: (1) We have a lot of new equipment and it would be great if someone updated the Sound Operators’ manual.
(2) Kyler Laird is working to record the services digitally rather than on cassette tape. If someone were interested in working with him on that, it would be great.
(3) Have you ever wished Forum were recorded? Or wished it had sound amplification? It’s a topic that someone could explore.
(4) As we move into St. Andrews, decisions will need to be made about sound equipment. If you have expertise on such matters, you could join the committee making those decisions.
(5) Manage the cassette tape lending box. (Sharon’s kind of tired of doing it after all these years.)
(7) Woodworker: Replace the book rack that fell down.
(8) Set up an FM radio lending display for hearing assistance radios.
