Music is an important part of worship services and other activities at the Unitarian Universalist Church. Our membership includes a number of active working musicians and talented amateurs, and frequently members of local and regional groups like Traveler's Dream or the Vagaband will add to the joyful noise.
Our adult choir performs a wide range of selections for Sunday worship and other special church occasions. Selections have included classical works by Mozart, spirituals, and contemporary pieces. In the photo at the right the choir performs at the Installation and Ordination Service for our new minister in October, 2000.
The choir holds weekly evening rehearsals. In addition to working on excellence in music, the choir also tries to maintain a sense of fellowship and fun in an atmosphere of mutual support and caring. Anyone in the church is invited to join the choir. Auditions are not required.
In 2009, the UU Church House Band was formed. Organized by Jason Dufair, it has a more electric pop/rock/blues-oriented approach to music for the services, and features a number of musicians and singers from the church in a variety of configurations depending on the song and available personnel. Newcomers are always welcome.
